Let's hear the news first from our favorite site, AnimeSuki
As most of you downloading whores know, AnimeSuki has been a premier source for fansubbed goodies. For us, really impoverished Filipino otakus, fansubs help A LOT. Unlike America, the Philippine Video industry hasn't brandished the power to distribute LEGAL anime in our country. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Indonesian and Hong Kong rip-offs, or some other VCD irates just out to get divX rips and convert it to VCDs. Most of the time, we actually ignore the Japanese companies and go with it. But it seems, thanks to the mail received by AnimeSuki, there is more to the whole pirating shenanigan. Apparently, an animation company, Media Factory Inc has submitted a complaint and insists that AnimeSuki drops all of the Media Factory Inc. goods. I assume that Media Factory has taken this into consideration since they are a small company, with only managing to create greate works recently through Rahxephon, Gankutsuou, and Genshiken. They might not be earning big compared to the already opular animation companies such as Gonzo, Production IG, Studio Pierrot, and Gainax (Although, Gainax themselves are impoverished and often worked alongside Production IG).
With Japan finally noticing what America and the rest of the world, who will be filing their complaint next? Will the world be ripped from fansubs soon? Will international support wane or will it be fueled to greater heights as access to anime becomes harder?
I try not to worry about this, but there is a particular level of concern I cannot deny. Shit, that means I would have to deal with legal stuff. Or worse yet, suck up to some stiff-lipped fanboy who thinks nothing but money when it comes to 'sharing' animes.
To skip either fate, I will just make myself more determined to move to Japan. Or any other place where such shit is accessible. POHTAH... sana naman yun na ang una at huli!

God will often make it plain. Verse 30: "The angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God."' He reasserts the key word. Grace. I bring grace, Mary. Let the assurance that this is grace take away your fear. And here is the grace I bring (verses 31-33): "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father, David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." This is the heart of the passage. This is where the shy member of the Trinity (who inspired this Scripture) does his best work. He magnifies Jesus, not himself.
It shows that the conception of Jesus in a virgin is owing to the mysterious work of the Holy Spirit. And it shows that the divine sonship of Jesus depends on his virgin birth. Many people will try to say that the conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary is not essential in the doctrine of the incarnation, since Jesus would have been the Son of God even if the virgin birth weren't true. The words of Gabriel do not agree. In answer to the question, how can a virgin conceive, he says, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God." Jesus can be called Son of God (v. 35), Son of the Most High (v. 32) precisely because he was "conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary." It is an unfathomable mystery that all the fullness of deity should dwell bodily in Jesus (Col. 2:9). It is fitting (indeed necessary, I think) that the entrance gate to this mystery of incarnation should be the virgin birth. And it should cause us to smile with pleasure that the shy member of the Trinity should be assigned the delicate and wonderful and mysterious work of causing the virgin to conceive -- to conceive the One whose greatness he will magnify for ever. It's all so beautifully appropriate.
So let us conclude where Mary does, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be to me according to your word" (v. 38). Can you say that: "Let the Holy Spirit do with me as he pleases"? Do you trust the Spirit enough to say: "I am your slave; take me; use your omnipotent power to put me where you want me, when you want me there, doing what you want me to do"? Do you know why we can entrust ourselves to the Holy Spirit? Because he exists to exalt the glory of Jesus Christ. Therefore, if the heartbeat of your life is the glory of Jesus Christ, the Spirit will empower and help you with all his might. Let's live and speak so that men and women in Minneapolis and Morocco and Mongolia might know that Jesus Christ is a great Savior, the Son of the Most High, and the never-ending King of Kings. That's the passion of the Holy Spirit. To be full of that is to be full of Him.

You are firmly convinced about our Lord, who is truly of the race of David according to the flesh, Son of God according to the will and power of God, truly born of a virgin, . . . he was truly nailed to a tree for us in his flesh under Pontius Pilate . . . he truly suffered, as he is also truly risen.147
People are sometimes troubled by the silence of St. Mark's Gospel and the New Testament Epistles about Jesus' virginal conception. Some might wonder if we were merely dealing with legends or theological constructs not claiming to be history. To this we must respond: Faith in the virginal conception of Jesus met with the lively opposition, mockery, or incomprehension of non-believers, Jews and pagans alike;151 so it could hardly have been motivated by pagan mythology or by some adaptation to the ideas of the age. The meaning of this event is accessible only to faith, which understands in it the "connection of these mysteries with one another"152 in the totality of Christ's mysteries, from his Incarnation to his Passover. St. Ignatius of Antioch already bears witness to this connection: "Mary's virginity and giving birth, and even the Lord's death escaped the notice of the prince of this world: these three mysteries worthy of proclamation were accomplished in God's silence."153
Contemplative prayer is silence, the "symbol of the world to come"12 or "silent love."13 Words in this kind of prayer are not speeches; they are like kindling that feeds the fire of love. In this silence, unbearable to the "outer" man, the Father speaks to us his incarnate Word, who suffered, died, and rose; in this silence the Spirit of adoption enables us to share in the prayer of Jesus.

Gabriel answered Mary’s question by saying, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)
Compare Gabriel’s explanation to Mary with the following quote from Genesis:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. (Gen 1:1-2)
The similarity in these verses helps us to understand the meaning of the phrase, "conceived by the Holy Spirit." The phrase points to the forming of the baby in Mary’s womb as a creative act of God. God the Spirit caused God the Son to take a human form.

503 Mary's virginity manifests God's absolute initiative in the Incarnation. Jesus has only God as Father. "He was never estranged from the Father because of the human nature which he assumed. . . He is naturally Son of the Father as to his divinity and naturally son of his mother as to his humanity, but properly Son of the Father in both natures."[161]

When God came in human flesh in the person of Jesus, he did not abandon his deity, but rather added humanity to his divinity. He was both fully God and fully human (Philippians 2:6-8; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:8-9).

Comment: Since the incarnation was essential for our salvation, we praise God for it. Indeed, at least one passage in Scripture appears to be a song in celebration of Jesus' willingness to humble himself for our salvation (Phil. 2:6-11).
God became human--what a miracle! "It is by far the most amazing miracle of the entire Bible.... The fact that the infinite, omnipotent, eternal Son of God could become man and join himself to a human nature ... will remain for eternity the most profound miracle and the most profound mystery in all the universe" (Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology, Zondervan, 1994, p. 563).

In the Nicene Creed we proclaim: "By the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man."
In recent years there has been some questioning of the New English translation of the Mass. Right here we run into one of the problems because the original Greek (sarkotheis) and Latin (incarnatus) do not say "he was born" but "he took flesh" of the Virgin Mary. So the English translation we use at Mass on Sunday is not precise. You may recall the words of the Apostles' Creed which are more exact in this matter, "He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary."
This article of the Creed touches the heart and soul of the mystery of Christ. Here are some of the truths it contains.
1) The Son of God, the eternal Word, took flesh or was conceived in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. By these words the ancient Fathers who composed the Creed rejected the errors of those who taught that Jesus only appeared to be a man, but did not actually assume a real human nature (they are called Docetists).
2) Jesus Christ was conceived without the agency of a human father or male sperm. For the Creed says that he was enfleshed "of the Virgin Mary". This is intended to reject the error of Valentinus, a second century heretic, who said that Jesus had a celestial body. He is noted for having said that this body passed through the Virgin without receiving anything from her, just as water passed through a canal. The meaning of the Creed is that Mary supplied to Jesus everything that an ordinary human mother supplies to her child in the area of nutrition and gestation.
3) Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. There was no sexual intercourse involved in the conception of Jesus (see Lk 1:35). It was accomplished by the divine power properly disposing matter within the womb of the Virgin so that an ovum supplied by her was fertilized. We should not conclude from this that the Holy Spirit is the "father" of Jesus in the flesh. In his human nature Jesus did not have a father. To be a father means to generate in one's own likeness. The Holy Spirit, being God, does not generate Jesus' human nature in his own likeness, for he is infinitely above human nature. All activity of God outside the Trinity is common to all three Persons, but some actions are attributed to one Person rather than to another because of a special relationship to that Person. The Holy Spirit is the love of the Father and the Son, who love each other and us in him. Since God decreed that his Son should become incarnate because "of the great love with which he loved us" (Eph 2:4), the formation of Christ's flesh is fittingly ascribed to the Holy Spirit.
4) The Words "and he became man" were added to exclude the error that the Son of God "dwelt" in Jesus in some way, but did not actually become man.
The article of the Creed on the Incarnation is based on the explicit words of Scripture. St. John says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (1:14). St. Paul writes to the Galatians, "When the time ha fully come, God sent forth his son, born of a woman (4:4).

Involved are both the meaning of man himself and the revealed reality of the Holy Trinity, for when we say that "God became man", we mean that the Word of God, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, united to himself a human nature. So God became in Jesus as we are. It is the defined, official teaching of the Church that the Incarnation, as a term of the divine action, is the mysterious union of the divine nature and the human nature in the Person of the Word. This is also called the "Hypostatic Union", since the union of the divine nature and the human nature takes place in the Person of the Word. Hypostatic is the Greek word for "personal".
He says that by the mysteries of his bodily life Jesus called men to a spiritual life; he showed the dignity of human nature; he demonstrated the immensity of God's love for us with a view to eliciting our return of love; he held up the ideal of a created intellect being united to uncreated Spirit; he offered man hope of obtaining the beatitude of eternal life.
Given that we are so needy and that God is the infinite source of everything that is, the incomprehensible element in the Incarnation is that God would deign to empty himself, to deprive himself as it were, in order to become man. St. Paul says of Jesus that "though he was in the form of God, he did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men" (Phil 2:6-7). So God became like us in all things except sin.
